Greatest Match Ever
Possibly there was a better victory sometime—but I can’t remember it! I can’t remember anything, don’t care about anything except for tonight’s fabulous win over Oregon. We didn’t just beat them, we swept them, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19. What a night.
Everyone played well. We hit .336 as a team. Our passing was superlative. I could single out every player on the court for great play, but I’ll settle for one: the player named as tournament MVP, Abby Gilleland. She really was the glue, the organizer, the nexus. Every time she set, there was almost nothing to say about it—because the sets were so consistently great.
Damn, do we have a team this year! Cricket and I were jumping around howling at some of the saves, sets, kills and blocks. Well, it’s the old story: Winning is Fun—and it’s doubly fun when we take down the 8th-ranked team in the country.
Last fall we went to Louisville to see the Ducks play Texas in the national finals. We were rooting for Oregon then—but enough of that!
Huge kudos to the team, the coaches and everyone who helps with this dynamic Ohio program.
